Department: Over the Road Trucking
Reports to: Assistant Traffic Manager
Job Summary:
As a Class A CDL OTR Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery and pickup of goods at various locations across the country. You will be tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that will be assigned to you, as well as working closely with our team of dispatchers who are planning routes and tracking deliveries. The ideal Class A CDL OTR Driver adheres to American Furniture Warehouse’s quality expectations and standards and is committed to under promising and over delivering to our customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Operate trucks requiring an appropriate CDL license (e.g., performing basic functions like driving forwards, driving backwards, or maneuvering in tight spaces, etc.)
Transport and deliver goods in accordance with the schedule as determined by the dispatcher/Traffic Manager.
Operate truck and trailer units in a safe manner. Report any vehicle problems and defects to the Garage department.
Comply with all state, local and national Department of Transportation standards and regulations while maintaining a good driving record.
Reinforce the American Furniture Warehouse high standards of customer service by consistently delivering orders on time and in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualifications
Supervision Given and Received:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position is supervised directly by the Assistant Traffic Manager and or Traffic Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Have a strong independent work ethic.
Excellent organizational skill and the ability to demonstrate attention to detail, and accuracy.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills required.
Certificates and Licenses:
Class A CDL without restrictions.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED is preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted in lieu of diploma.
Physical Demands:
Requires the ability to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas.
Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours a day.
Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
Able to work in various weather conditions. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
