Job Title: Non-CDL Driver

Role Summary
The non-CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting household goods while adhering to Budd Van Lines policies, FMCSA regulations, and applicable laws while delivering exceptional customer service.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Ensure the integrity of BVL by obtaining true and accurate weights on all shipments.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company standards.
•Ensure operation of vehicle is performed in compliance with all applicable State and Federal law and Budd Van Lines’ policies and procedures by performing all pre and post trip inspections, including appearance and condition. Report problems with Branch Operations.
•Assist in the professional development and supervision of Co-Drivers, Packers, and Helpers. Encourage positive employee performance. Give periodic input to Operations Supervisor.
•Request all authorizations for accessorial services, packing estimate variances, etc.in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
•Own & maintain the necessary tools used to disassemble/reassemble household furniture/fixtures.
•Establish a positive working relationship with each customer.
•Operate required electronic systems, including electronic logging devices (ELD) and paperless driver platforms.
•Discuss and communicate concerns/requests the transferee has to Crew, Coordination and Branch Operations.
•Prepare/ protect and pad and wrap furniture and/ or fixtures inside the residence.
•Carry items (furniture, package cartons, etc.) to and from the residence or van.
•Wrap and pack personal effects and/or household goods.
•Disassemble and/or reassemble furniture and/or fixtures.
•Unpack personal effects and household goods.
•Place articles in a well-organized manner on dresser, counter, tabletops, etc.
•Oversee Third Party Services to ensure the quality of work meets Budd Van Lines’ standards.
•Ensure household goods, personal effects, automobiles, freight, etc. are safely and efficiently loaded and secured for transit.
•Ensure the residence is left in a neat and well-organized fashion at the completion of each day.
•Maintain necessary contact/communication with Branch Operations, and transferee.
•Perform additional duties as assigned by management
•Driver must complete required company training program,
•Must complete Budd Academy training at the Budd Van Lines driving school in Racine, WI, for the required training period.
Qualifications and Experience
•1 year non-CDL driving experience or 1 year as Driver Helper.
•Valid driver’s license and DOT medical certificate
•Minimum age 21; ability to travel and overnight
•Must maintain CSA safety rating within company and insurance eligibility standards, including no more than 15 CSA points.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry 50 plus pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Ability to safely load, secure, and move heavy household goods and equipment.
• Ability to climb in and out of vehicles and operate equipment safely.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and residential environments.
• Ability to safely operate moving equipment, hand tools, and loading apparatus.
