Description

This Position is responsible for:

Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location.

Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.

Assists Truck Helper in unloading the truck at the warehouse.

Delivers appliances and/or furniture as requested by customers.

Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.

Key Responsibilities:

Assists in loading the bail truck.

Assists in cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and loading dock area.

Assists in working in all areas of the Thrift Store operations as needed.

Performs special projects as needed.

Performs other related work as required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck.

 

Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required, AND one year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications/Licenses

Valid State Driver's License.

Physical Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
