Summary:


The Truck Driver (Yard/Shop) is responsible for safely operating company trucks to transport pipes, materials, and equipment within the fabrication facility and yard. This role supports production and warehouse operations by moving materials between staging areas, workstations, and storage locations while following all safety procedures.


Responsibilities:

  • Operate company trucks to move pipe, steel, and other materials throughout the fabrication shop and yard.
  • Transport materials between receiving, storage areas, fabrication bays, and staging locations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Ensure materials are properly secured before transport within the yard.
  • Communicate with supervisors, crane operators, and shop personnel to coordinate material movement.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support shop and yard personnel with general material handling when required.
  • Keep trucks and work areas clean and organized.


Education and Experience:

  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not always required depending on equipment).
  • Experience operating trucks, flatbeds, or similar vehicles in a construction, fabrication, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with handling pipe, steel, or heavy materials is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with shop personnel to coordinate material movement.
  • Strong commitment to safety and following procedures.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Ability to reach, stand, walk, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and perform repetitive motion.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • Must be capable of traveling by car or airplane as needed to support business activities.
