Lead, Dispatch, and Inspire - Drive Overnight Success at Our Grand Rapids Distribution Center as a CDL Truck Driver Manager.
The Truck Driver Manager oversees all CDL-A and CDL-B drivers assigned to the facility during the overnight shift. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient delivery operations while maintaining DOT compliance, fleet readiness, and high-quality service. The position requires an active CDL-A or CDL-B with Hazmat endorsement and serves as the designated backup driver to cover absences or emergency delivery needs.
Key Responsibilities
Driver Leadership & Oversight:
Supervise, coach, and support all facility drivers on the 11 PM–7 AM shift.
Monitor route performance, delivery accuracy, and adherence to safety standards.
Conduct pre-shift and post-shift communication to ensure operational continuity.
Address performance issues, safety concerns, and policy compliance.
Ensure drivers follow all DOT regulations and company procedures.
Backup Driving Responsibilities
Serve as the primary backup driver for the facility.
Cover routes during absences, emergencies, or peak workload periods.
Operate CDL-A or CDL-B vehicles safely and efficiently, including Hazmat-required deliveries.
Maintain readiness to step into any assigned route with minimal notice.
Fleet Maintenance & Readiness:
Oversee the condition and operational readiness of all fleet vehicles.
Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with approved vendors.
Ensure all vehicles meet DOT standards, including inspections and documentation.
Monitor telematics, mileage, and defect reports to proactively address maintenance needs.
DOT Compliance & Safety Management:
Maintain full compliance with DOT regulations, including driver logs, hours-of-service, vehicle inspections, and Hazmat requirements.
Conduct periodic audits of driver documentation and inspection reports.
Support accident reporting and documentation.
Reinforce a culture of safety through coaching and continuous improvement.
Operational Coordination:
Communicate with dispatch, warehouse leadership, and store teams to ensure timely deliveries.
Assist with route adjustments, emergency coverage, and real-time problem solving.
Maintain accurate records of driver schedules, route assignments, and fleet status.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance delivery efficiency.

Qualifications:
Valid CDL-A or CDL-B with Hazmat endorsement (required).
Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience; leadership or dispatch experience preferred.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work the overnight shift consistently.
Ability to step into driving duties on short notice.
