Position Title: CDL Driver – Vac Truck

Essential Functions:

The Vac Truck Operator is responsible for the successful completion of hydro excavation processes. The incumbent operates Hydrovac and other machines used in construction to excavate, load, dig or break rocks or debris, dirt, or other materials. Responsible for the completion of projects in a safe and timely manner. Safe operations of truck and its equipment
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the successful completion of hydro excavation projects including utility line exposure, debris removal, slot trenching, and digging
- Operate Hydrovac trucks and equipment in a safe and professional manner
- Supervise activities of Hydrovac Laborers to ensure employee skill development
- Set up and inspect grounding and/or bonding procedures for Hydrovac operation
- Complete all required paperwork properly and within set timelines
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance
- Performing Required Daily Vacuum Excavation Tasks:
- Potholing Existing Underground Utilities for HDD Work
- Pole Holes, Anchors, and Trench Work for Company Divisions
- Exposing Existing Underground Utilities for New Placement and Maintenance Work
Success Factors:
- Knowledge of basic underground utilities
- Skills in operating heavy equipment and machines proficiently and safely
- Ability to use time and equipment efficiently to complete projects on time
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
- Mechanical aptitude
- Mapping and Print Reading
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience or training
- Mechanical ability; and knowledge of equipment and heavy vehicle operation, maintenance, and repair
- Repetitive Lifting of Vac Piping Connections
Experience and Education:
- One (1+) plus years experience working in construction
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis
- Possession of a valid State Driver’s License is required
- Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR check, a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- CDL license is required
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
